With his cartoon-like drawings, Bob Haverluck hopes to make the political and theological subjects of his art accessible to a wide audience. Haverluck, the University of Winnipeg's Artist-in-Residence, uses humour and irony in images that "explore the wild berry patch as a broken metaphor of a second Eden." In more general terms, mercy and healing in a broken world are themes that weave their way through the works in Lying Down with Bear Where the Berries Are. The exhibition is held in conjunction with the University of Winnipeg theological conference "Articulate Roosters: The Arts and the Mending of the World's Wounds," October 27 - 30. There will be a free public artist's talk in the Gallery on Friday, October 25 at 12:30 p.m.
